Skyanalog Diamond 25th Edition – a quarter-century of analogue mastery

Twenty-five years in the making

The Skyanalog Diamond 25th Edition is a limited-edition moving coil cartridge built to mark the company's 25th anniversary. Skyanalog spent those decades producing OEM cartridges for more than twenty internationally respected brands — consequently, this is not a manufacturer starting from scratch. It is one stepping into the light with hard-won expertise and a flagship product to match. The Diamond 25th Edition is available at Novus Audio for audiophiles who take their vinyl seriously.

Diamond on diamond — the case for a pure system

At the heart of this cartridge sits an in-house designed and manufactured diamond cantilever, paired with a nude Micro-Ridge diamond stylus. The synergy between identical materials achieves unprecedented rigidity throughout the signal path, thereby eliminating virtually all information loss between groove and generator. Furthermore, diamond's thermal conductivity far exceeds that of boron, ruby, or sapphire — heat generated during playback dissipates more efficiently, contributing to long-term stability and consistent performance over time.

The Yan suspension — engineered for diamond

Using diamond for both cantilever and stylus introduces resonance challenges that conventional suspension systems cannot address. Skyanalog therefore developed the Yan system: a bespoke suspension built around custom-grade piano wire and a proprietary rubber compound with increased rigidity. Unwanted resonances are effectively controlled without compromising frequency response. The result is a ruler-flat response from 20 Hz to 30,000 Hz within ±1 dB. Moreover, diamond's lower density yields a lighter cantilever, which improves transient response and high-frequency tracking above all else.

In the listening room

The Diamond 25th Edition delivers a wide, immersive soundstage with deep and well-defined bass, a smooth and expressive midrange, and extended, airy highs. Phase accuracy is exceptional — instruments and voices are placed with precision that rewards close listening. With an internal impedance of 5 ohms and an output of 0.35 mV, it pairs naturally with high-quality MC phono stages offering at least 60 dB of gain and an input impedance between 100 and 500 ohms.
