The Trigon VOLCANO III is an external battery power supply for the Trigon VANGUARD II and VANGUARD III phono preamplifiers. During playback, the integrated lead-gel batteries deliver current with no mains connection, consequently eliminating all forms of mains-borne noise at source. The VANGUARD II or III combined with the VOLCANO III therefore achieves a noise performance comparable to the ADVANCE III. The VOLCANO III is available at Novus Audio in Kampen in black or silver.

Processor-controlled charge management — always ready

An integrated processor monitors the charge cycle of the two 12V 0.8Ah lead-gel batteries fully automatically. Consequently, the user never needs to intervene manually. Operating states appear on a two-colour LED display, therefore the current status is always immediately visible. Switching between mains and battery power is relay-controlled via a front-panel button. The transition is smooth and uninterrupted during use.

Output voltage and compatibility

The VOLCANO III delivers 27V DC with fully charged batteries — precisely matched to the VANGUARD II and VANGUARD III supply requirements. Furthermore, it shares the same 133 mm housing width as the VANGUARD models, consequently creating a visually coherent pairing. Note that the VOLCANO III is not compatible with the ADVANCE III, which has its own integrated battery supply.
