NuPrime Stream-9 – a dedicated streaming transport with proprietary SRC upsampling

A transport built for external DACs, not a jack of all trades

The NuPrime Stream-9 is a dedicated network streaming transport — no internal DAC, no shortcuts. Since it is designed exclusively to feed a high-quality external DAC, every design decision consequently serves signal quality rather than feature count. The proprietary NuPrime SRC chip upsamples any digital source to PCM 768kHz/32bit or DSD256 with ultra-low jitter, thereby extracting the maximum from Spotify, Tidal or a local hi-res file alike. Above all, a linear power supply keeps the noise floor well below what switching-mode designs can achieve.

SRC upsampling — how it works and why it matters

Rather than simply passing a signal through, the NuPrime SRC chip first upsamples to the megahertz range before converting down to the target sample rate. As a result, jitter is minimised at the conversion stage and the output to the DAC is cleaner than the original source. Furthermore, the I2S output via HDMI delivers PCM up to 768kHz and DSD256 directly — since I2S carries clock and data separately, it consequently offers lower jitter than coaxial or optical connections.

Streaming services and wireless connectivity

The Stream-9 supports Spotify Connect, Tidal, Qobuz, Amazon Music, AirPlay 2, Bluetooth 5.0 aptX HD and DLNA. Since both Gigabit Ethernet and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n are on board, network integration is therefore straightforward in any environment. Control is via the free 4Stream app on iOS and Android, or the included remote with programmable preset keys for favourite services. A 12V trigger output moreover enables automatic power sequencing with the DAC-9X and STA-9X.

The third piece of the NuPrime 9X system

Since the Stream-9 shares identical dimensions of 55×235×281 mm with the NuPrime DAC-9X and STA-9X, all three components stack as a visually coherent and technically unified system. The Stream-9 feeds the DAC-9X via I2S, the DAC-9X drives the STA-9X directly — thereby creating a complete reference-class chain with minimal signal breakpoints between source and speaker.

Frequently asked questions about the NuPrime Stream-9

Does the NuPrime Stream-9 have a built-in DAC?

No — it is a dedicated transport designed exclusively for connection to an external DAC. Since the Stream-9 focuses entirely on delivering the cleanest possible digital signal, it consequently pairs naturally with the NuPrime DAC-9X via I2S.

What does SRC upsampling do?

The proprietary NuPrime SRC chip upsamples every digital source to PCM 768kHz/32bit or DSD256. Since the signal is first taken to the megahertz range before being converted to the target rate, jitter is minimised and the output is cleaner than the original source — regardless of its resolution.

Which streaming services does the NuPrime Stream-9 support?

The Stream-9 supports Spotify Connect, Tidal, Qobuz, Amazon Music, AirPlay 2, Bluetooth 5.0 aptX HD and DLNA. Control is via the 4Stream app on iOS and Android, or the included remote control.
