PrimaLuna EVO 300 Tube Integrated – Swiss Made wiring, triode/ultra-linear switching and subwoofer output

The step up to premium components

The PrimaLuna EVO 300 Tube Integrated marks a significant step within the EvoLution series. Swiss Made wiring, Takman resistors, DuRoch tinfoil capacitors and the AC Offset Killer appear here for the first time — components normally found only in amplifiers at a considerably higher price point. Furthermore, a triode/ultra-linear switch allows the listener to choose between two fundamentally different sonic characters at the touch of a button. Consequently, the EVO 300 combines premium component quality with musical versatility that no lower model in the range can match.

Triode versus ultra-linear — two amplifiers in one chassis

In ultra-linear mode the EVO 300 delivers 2× 42 W with maximum control and dynamic range. Since the triode switch reduces output to 2× 24 W, the amplifier consequently sounds softer, more direct and emotionally engaging — closer in character to single-ended designs. As a result, the EVO 300 offers two fundamentally different musical experiences without changing a single component. Tube rolling is moreover straightforward thanks to Adaptive AutoBias and the high/low bias switch — compatible valve types include EL34, KT88, KT66, KT77, KT90, KT120 and KT150.

Subwoofer output, AC Offset Killer and full remote

The stereo/mono subwoofer output allows direct connection of an active subwoofer — without an external crossover or additional components. Since the AC Offset Killer eliminates AC mains interference at the power supply stage, the noise floor is thereby significantly lower than in amplifiers without this circuit. Furthermore, the EVO 300 is the first model in the range to include a full metal remote control rather than the Slim remote of the EVO 100 and 200. Five stereo RCA inputs plus Home Theater Bypass moreover provide comprehensive connectivity.

International recognition

Hi-Fi Critic awarded the EVO 300 a Recommended distinction, Hi-Fi News named it an Outstanding Product, and the FF Award 2024 confirms its standing as a reference amplifier in its class. Above all, Watt Audio Magazine concluded that the EVO 300 had once again confirmed its leading position in its price category — praising its neutrality, detail and tonal balance as inseparable qualities. The EVO 300 is consequently the natural choice for those who want the best of the EvoLution range without stepping up to the EVO 400.

Frequently asked questions about the PrimaLuna EVO 300 Tube Integrated

What does the EVO 300 add over the EVO 200?

Swiss Made wiring, Takman resistors, DuRoch tinfoil capacitors, AC Offset Killer, triode/ultra-linear switching, a subwoofer output and a full remote control are all added. Consequently, the EVO 300 is considerably more complete than the EVO 200, while both models share the same valve compatibility and Adaptive AutoBias.

What is the difference between triode and ultra-linear mode?

Ultra-linear mode delivers more power and dynamic control — ideal for complex music and demanding loudspeakers. Since triode mode reduces output, the amplifier consequently sounds softer and more direct — closer in character to single-ended valve designs. Switching between modes is straightforward via the front panel switch.

How does the EVO 300 differ from the EVO 400?

The EVO 400 has heavier transformers and delivers more power (2× 70 W UL / 2× 38 W triode). Both models share the same premium components including Swiss Made wiring, Takman resistors and AC Offset Killer. The EVO 400 is therefore the choice for larger listening rooms or more demanding loudspeakers.
