MOON 641 integrated amplifier – dual mono with MDCA technology from the North Collection
The centrepiece of the North Collection
The MOON 641 integrated amplifier is the core component of Simaudio's North Collection. Its dual mono layout delivers 125 W into 8 ohms and 250 W into 4 ohms. Since MDCA amplifier technology and the third-generation M-VOL3 gain control work together, the 641 consequently combines exceptionally low distortion with precise, stable volume tracking at all levels. It therefore suits virtually any loudspeaker — including the most demanding.
MDCA and dual mono — signal integrity above all
MDCA stands for MOON Distortion-Cancelling Amplifier. Since the circuit operates outside the signal path, distortion is reduced without global feedback. As a result, THD+N reaches just 0.003% at full power and the damping factor is 700. Furthermore, the dual mono layout provides fully separate signal paths per channel — thereby reducing crosstalk to –109 dB, an exceptional figure for an integrated amplifier.
M-VOL3 and 4.3-inch colour display
The third-generation M-VOL3 volume control delivers precise channel tracking and fine-grained adjustment at low listening levels. Consequently, the 641 sounds as controlled at background volumes as it does at full output. The 4.3-inch colour display moreover streamlines source selection and setup. MOONLink enables straightforward coordination with other North Collection components — above all, the MOON 681 network player/DAC as a dedicated digital front end.
North Collection — designed and built in Québec
Simaudio designs and assembles the 641 entirely in Québec, Canada. The BRM-1 intelligent remote is included as standard. Frequency response extends from 2 Hz to 90 kHz within +0/–3 dB — thereby exceeding the audible range by a considerable margin. A low-power standby mode of just 2.5 W is furthermore available for everyday convenience.

Frequently asked questions about the MOON 641 integrated amplifier
What is the difference between the MOON 641 and the MOON 371?
The MOON 371 is an all-in-one amplifier from the Compass Collection with a built-in network player, DAC and phono stage. By contrast, the 641 is a pure integrated amplifier from the North Collection — without streaming, but with higher measured performance, dual mono construction and a damping factor of 700 versus 425 in the 371. Since amplifier performance is the priority, the 641 is consequently the more focused choice.
What is MDCA technology?
MDCA stands for MOON Distortion-Cancelling Amplifier — a proprietary Simaudio topology that suppresses distortion outside the signal path. Since no global feedback is used, the 641 therefore achieves THD+N of just 0.003% at full power while preserving signal integrity throughout.
Which source components pair with the MOON 641?
The MOON 681 network player/DAC is the recommended digital front end for the 641. Since both connect via MOONLink, coordination is straightforward. The 641 moreover works with any quality analogue source via its line inputs.
