The Audio Resurgence Kraken AR6A is an integrated amplifier with a fully discrete Class A signal architecture, hand-assembled in the United Kingdom. This is not a reissue but a direct continuation of the legendary Alchemist HiFi legacy (1989–2001). Behind the Audio Resurgence Kraken AR6A stand the same designers: Andy Light for industrial design and Glen Gayle for circuit design — the same combination that gave the original Kraken its cult status.
A British Legacy Continued, Not Revived
Alchemist HiFi earned worldwide recognition through sculptural designs and distinctly musical amplifiers, including the original Kraken and Forseti series. Tim de Paravicini (EAR Yoshino) collaborated closely with the team during that era. The AR6A builds directly on that DNA: larger heatsinks for greater Class A operation, concentric volume and input selectors for the shortest possible signal paths, and the same conviction that music matters more than marketing specifications.
External Linear Power Supply for a Silent Noise Floor
The Kraken AR6A is powered by an external linear power supply, available in two configurations. Keeping the power supply outside the amplifier chassis ensures the internal signal path remains exceptionally quiet. The Single PSU is well suited to everyday use; the Dual PSU provides separate supplies for an even lower noise floor. An optional plug-in moving magnet phono module is also available.
Build Quality and Design
The massive aluminium enclosure with large heatsinks is characteristic of the Kraken line. The symmetrical layout with short signal paths and hand-selected components reflects the finest British craft tradition.
