Cambridge Audio L/R X – the flagship of active streaming speakers
The most complete expression of the L/R concept
The Cambridge Audio L/R X sits at the top of the L/R range, replacing a full hi-fi stack with a single, advanced loudspeaker system. With 800 watts of total power, built-in StreamMagic streaming, HDMI eARC, and a phono input, it covers music, TV sound, and vinyl in equal measure. Six finishes are available, therefore the L/R X suits a wide range of interiors. Above all, this flagship pairs serious scale with genuine refinement.
800 watts and a dual-woofer approach to deep bass
Each speaker uses the 28mm Torus tweeter, with its dual-radius aluminium dome, custom waveguide, phase ring, and rear chamber. Two 5-inch woofers — one front-facing, one downward-firing — are crossed over at different points, so each driver works within its optimal range. Combined with two 6-inch passive radiators, the L/R X plays flat down to 35Hz, consequently most rooms won't need a separate subwoofer at all. Total output of 2× 400 watts Class D provides the headroom expected of a true flagship.
StreamMagic Gen 4, HDMI eARC, phono, and wireless WiSA linking
StreamMagic Gen 4 delivers high-resolution streaming from Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Amazon Music, Deezer, Roon Ready, UPnP, and Internet Radio, with multi-room support via AirPlay 2, Google Cast, and Roon. HDMI eARC connects directly to a television, while the built-in MM phono stage supports a turntable without an external preamp. One notable feature is the link between speakers: alongside the wired USB-C option, the L/R X also supports WiSA HT, thereby allowing a completely wireless setup at 24-bit/96kHz. Bluetooth, optical TOSLINK, and USB inputs add further flexibility.
Precise tuning and a confident design
The L/R X features a 64-bit DSP pipeline, DynamEQ, room-optimisation tools, 7-band EQ presets, and enhanced protection circuitry, thereby preserving balance and detail at every volume. A floating-base design and subtle underlit LED accents furthermore underline the premium feel. Available in black, white, blue, walnut, orange, and green, the L/R X suits a wide range of rooms without the technical credentials taking a back seat.

Frequently asked questions
Is a subwoofer needed with the Cambridge Audio L/R X?
In most rooms, no. Thanks to its dual woofers and passive radiators, the L/R X plays flat down to 35Hz, which is sufficient bass extension for most music genres.
Can the speakers be linked completely wirelessly?
Yes. Alongside the wired USB-C connection, the L/R X also supports WiSA HT, allowing the speakers to communicate wirelessly at 24-bit/96kHz.
Can a turntable be connected to the L/R X?
Yes. The built-in MM phono input suits most turntables fitted with an MM cartridge, so an external phono preamp isn't required.
