Spatial Europe PURE 15/18 – open baffle at its most unforced

No cabinet, no colouration

The Spatial Europe PURE 15/18 Limited is a 2.5-way open baffle loudspeaker built for listeners who value authenticity over spectacle. Its drivers radiate equally forwards and backwards, so there is no enclosure to resonate or colour the sound. Consequently, the soundstage extends well beyond the physical size of the baffles. Voices take on a tangible presence, while instruments detach completely from the speakers. The result sounds closer to a live performance than a hi-fi system.

A 15-inch coaxial with remarkably low moving mass

At the heart of the design sits a lightweight 15-inch coaxial driver. Its cone and voice coil weigh less than 55 grams combined, among the lowest figures in its class. Therefore, the smallest transients arrive without hesitation or smear. Furthermore, the 1.75-inch compression driver forms a near point source with the coaxial unit. Imaging is consequently precise, stable and genuinely three-dimensional.

18 inches of foundation, minimal crossover

Below the coaxial, a low-crossed 18-inch woofer carries the music down to 30 Hz. Bass is never an effect here; it is simply a foundation, deep, controlled and effortless. The crossover has been voiced strictly for fidelity and intervenes only where it serves the music. Phase and dynamics thereby remain largely untouched. Above all, the PURE 15/18 never sounds strained, compressed or close to its limits.

Valves or muscle: both work

With 94 dB/W/m sensitivity and an 8 ohm load, the PURE 15/18 is easy to drive. A few watts from a valve amplifier by MastersounD, PrimaLuna or Canor are therefore ample. Powerful solid-state amplifiers suit it equally well, giving the 18-inch woofer extra grip. Moreover, Spatial Europe offers its own AMP No2 and AMP No3, developed with Audion. Their output transformers are matched to each loudspeaker's impedance and Qts. For cabling, we recommend Spatial Europe Wire No2.

Frequently asked questions

What room does the PURE 15/18 need?

The PURE 15/18 performs best in rooms of around 20 m² or larger. For optimal imaging, allow at least 85 cm from the rear wall. A listening distance of 2.8 metres or more is also recommended.

How long is the run-in period?

Like any serious loudspeaker, the PURE 15/18 reaches full maturity after up to 500 hours of use. On request, run-in can take place in a sound booth before delivery. You therefore hear its full potential from day one.

Which amplifiers suit the PURE 15/18?

Thanks to its high sensitivity, both valve and powerful solid-state amplifiers work well. Among valve designs, the Spatial AMP No2 and AMP No3 are ideal partners, as are models from MastersounD, PrimaLuna and Canor. We are happy to demonstrate the combinations in our Kampen listening room.
